Important fall 2022 admissions application updates
Department / Organization: Admissions
Common App is now an option for prospective first-year students. Updates to priority deadlines and testing requirements.
The undergraduate admissions “Golden application” opened Wednesday, July 28. Additionally, prospective undergraduate students can now apply to Mines using the Common App, starting August 1. More information on how to apply with the Common App or with our Golden application can be found at mines.edu/undergraduate-admissions/first-year.
Mines is now a test-optional university. Applications will receive equal consideration in our holistic admissions and merit scholarship review process – with or without test scores. National research and Colorado-specific data show that test scores can be a limiting factor to students and unnecessary when making an admissions decision. If a student believes test scores will further highlight their academic ability, they are welcome to include them in their application file.
We launched our test-optional practice with the fall 2021 class and are seeing strong results. The incoming class has a GPA of 3.81-4.0 (middle 50%) and SAT scores of 1340-1490.
