Classified Employee Shift Differential & PTO changes July 1
Department / Organization: Human Resources
Changes will take effect on July 1, 2022. Please read below for more information.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement signed between the State of Colorado and the Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWINS) provided for the payment of new shift differentials and stipends, as well as increased paid time accrual rates. These changes take effect on July 1, 2022. The link provided below takes you to the COWINS agreement that contain the detailed changes.
Shift Differentials and Stipends A shift differential is an additional paid amount for hours worked during non-traditional business hours, meaning outside Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Article 32 of the Agreement provides for the payment of shift differentials for three shifts: weekend shift, second shift, and third shift. Additional pay information can be found in the agreement. Employees should contact their supervisor and/or Human Resources (HR) if they have any questions related to pay differentials or stipends.
Paid Time Off Article 29 speaks to changes in leave accrual for classified staff. No action is needed from employees. Mines Administrative Processing Center (MAPS) is working to ensure the proper accrual levels are in place for the July pay cycle. Employees can reach out to MAPS if they have questions regarding their accrual rate.
