Call for NSF Faculty Fellows for 2022-2023
Department / Organization: EDS
collaborate to build bridges between STEM and humanities ... and new modules for courses
We are excited to announce that we have received funding from the National Science Foundation to support a year-long project that engages faculty from STEM and Humanities fields (broadly construed) to collaboratively develop and implement interdisciplinary pedagogies at the intersection of science, technology, and society.
Specifically, we invite participation from faculty who are interested in collaborating with us to build bridges between STEM and humanities, and creating new modules for courses they are already teaching in the spring. The new modules should specifically raise social and ethical questions at the intersection of science and/or technology in society, and the theme for our work is “what is good engineering and science?”
To express your interest, please email us both (Elizabeth Reddy, reddy@mines.edu and Marie Stettler Kleine mkleine@mines.edu) and provide the following: 1) Name and department 2) Potential course offered in the spring and topic 3) Briefly: how does your topic engage ethical/social/political questions related to science/technology in society? 4) Availability: We anticipate these half-day workshops occurring on Friday afternoons, likely one the second week of October and November, and then the first week of January before the team. Do you anticipate being available during these times?
