Teachers, participate in the Teaching with Heart Project
Department / Organization: Academic Affairs
Be involved in a workshop series and online community to help create a caring environment in the STEM classroom
Are you concerned about the wellbeing of college students? Do the pressures of professional life negatively affect the way in which you show up in the classroom? Do you seek ways to create a caring and heart-filled classroom environment that speaks to the whole student? Are you looking to connect with other teachers to create such a classroom environment?
Through a grant of the Templeton Foundation, Roel Snieder, Cortney Holles, Qin Zhu, and Cynthia James, are developing the Teaching with Heart project that is aimed at enriching higher education by growing a character of love in teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We do this through a workshop series and building an online community of teachers that study together, develop best practices, and support each other in creating a caring classroom environment. The project is described in more detail on the Teaching with Heart website at https://twh.mines.edu . We encourage Mines Faculty to participate in the Teaching with Heart teacher program.
For more information about the teacher program, what we ask of participants, what we offer, and a registration form, visit the Participate page at

The deadline to apply for the Spring 2023 teacher program is December 7, 2022.
