2nd Annual Mines Entrepreneurship and Innovation Challenge 2017
Department / Organization: EPICS
This fun and free team-based Innovation Competition is open to all current Mines students. Teams compete for $36,000 in awards. Food, and prototyping materials are provided. Register by January 19th.
What is it? This team-based competition is a fun opportunity to apply your creative innovation skills to a real world challenge. This year's theme is “Sustainability in Natural Resource Industries.” Your team will have the opportunity to identify innovative ideas that may improve the environmental, safety, development, or closure of mining or oil/gas operations. All Mines students, regardless of academic discipline, have the ability to generate solutions to these challenges.
In this workshop, you will learn about the Mining and Oil and Gas industries, brainstorm innovation ideas, formulate and iterate low-resolution prototypes, and prepare and present your team’s idea/innovation to a panel of judges. No mining or oil and gas expertise or knowledge is required. Up to six winning teams will each have the opportunity to continue to work on your idea into the spring 2017 semester with $1,000 in financial support and free enrollment in a one-hour technical elective.
How Do I Register? You can register as an individual or as a team (team size should be between three and five students). If you register as an individual, we will assist you in forming a team.
Go to the Mines “My Idea” website (midea.mines.edu) and navigate to the Competitions page where you will find the Mines Innovation Challenge. Register by Thursday, January 19th.
