Learn how to safely and effectively utilize dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, and more in this 10 week program. Resistance training has been shown to help people develop a sense of mastery and boost self esteem and confidence. Research also shows strength training boosts cognition and builds resilience. Commit to 10 weeks of a guided group resistance training program and experience the benefits for yourself. Pre and post surveys and fitness testing will be implemented to measure effectiveness of the program on both physical and mental health.
Here is what you need to know: Class will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-12:50pm starting on May 16th and will run for 10 weeks. There are 12 spots available. Class takes place in the Motion Lab in Spruce Hall. An active SRC membership is required to participate. We have created a membership specifically for Empowered participants. If you do not already have an SRC membership, we recommend the "Small Group Training 20 Facility Access Pass". This membership costs $120 and is good for 20 visits to the Motion Lab, which is exactly how many classes Empowered is. This membership is the same cost as the normal 20 Punch Pass, but please purchase the "Small Group Training 20 Facility Access Pass", not the punch pass.
