Latinx MCA Book Club Changes
Department / Organization: Student Life
The Latinx Book Club is making some exciting changes!
The Latinx MCA is excited to announce changes to the Latinx Book Club intended to emphasize opportunities to continue to build our community at Mines. With a focus on furthering connection, book club meetings will center around themes from the book that will be discussed more generally so that everyone can participate in the discussion. The goal is to encourage folks to attend meetings, connect with others, and discuss meaningful topics, whether they’ve read the book or not.
This summer we will be reading Songs for the Flames by Juan Gabriel Vásquez. If you want to follow along with the full book, you can read the first three stories for our first meeting. If you're crunched for time and only have time to read one story, we suggest reading Frogs which touches on the power of speaking hard truths and the liberation that can come from these difficult conversations. And of course, we want to see you, whether you’ve read one, none, or all the stories - all are welcome.
Starting in June, monthly lunch meetings will be held at the Multicultural Engineering Program house (MEP) and all you need is to bring your lunch and the chisme! If you are interested in participating, please click on the link below to complete a quick survey to help us determine which day of the week works best for most folks.
So excited for this next iteration of the Latinx MCA Book Club. We can't wait to see you in June!
