Don't leave campus for the winter holidays and breaks without reading these sustainability tips

Winter break sustainability checklist


• LIGHTS OUT AND HEAT DOWN - Turn off lights and turn down the heat in your residence hall private rooms, common rooms, and office spaces to conserve energy

• UNPLUG IT - Unplug power cords from the outlets for computers, faxes, printers, coffee makers, and mini-refrigerators that continue to draw electricity while plugged in. Don't forget to empty and defrost those mini-fridges if necessary.

• LABS - CLOSE nonactive fume hood sashes and POWERDOWN nonessential lab equipment

• EMPTY trash and recycling in your rooms and offices to help custodians

• Report issues such as water leaks and broken windows and doors to Facilities Management.
