Check this off early in 2024 - Attend required EHS training
Department / Organization: Environmental Health and Safety Calling all students and employees who work in labs and fabrication shops! You are required to complete EHS training
General Laboratory Safety Training Students, faculty and staff, if you work in a laboratory or fabrication shop on campus you are required to complete Environmental Health and Safety’s Laboratory Safety Training class. This class runs about one hour. It will explain the hazards of working in these spaces and the safety measures you can take to protect yourself and others. Hazardous Waste Generator Training Students, faculty and staff, if you work in a laboratory or fabrication shop and generate hazardous waste (solids and liquids that are flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive) you need to complete this 50 minute training class ANNUALLY. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires all persons who generate hazardous waste be trained in proper waste management and emergency procedures. At the completion of this class, you will have access to the EHS chemical inventory system, be able to order chemicals, and submit a request for hazardous waste pick-up from your lab. Numerous in-person classes are available this month, check out the EHS training calendar and register for Laboratory Safety and Waste Generator Training classes. https://www.mines.edu/ehs/training/ Go to this website for more information: https://www.mines.edu/ehs/training/
