Undergraduate Student Commencement Ceremony and Inclement Weather Backup Plan Information
Department / Organization: President's Office
Commencement for Undergraduate students will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Marv Kay Stadium. IMPORTANT: Read further for changes to ceremony times in case of inclement weather.
INCLEMENT WEATHER BACKUP PLAN: If inclement weather occurs, the undergraduate ceremony will be moved indoors to Lockridge Arena (Student Recreation Center), and split into three commencement programs by college to be scheduled as follows: College of Earth Resource Sciences and Engineering at 9 a.m. College of Engineering and Computational Sciences at 1 p.m. College of Applied Sciences and Engineering at 5 p.m.
This schedule is a backup plan and will only be initiated if inclement weather is forecasted such that an outdoor ceremony would not be feasible. While we recognize this may cause inconvenience for some, splitting the ceremony is the only way to accommodate a move indoors. The colleges and times were drawn to accommodate students participating in the ROTC commissioning ceremony, and then by random draw. Notification will be sent by early Thursday May 11 (at the latest) via the website and the Mines Emergency Alert System.
