Remembering former Mines Trustee Richard Truly (1937-2024)

Admiral Truly, a former NASA Administrator and Astronaut, passed away Feb. 27 at home in Genesee, Colorado, at age 86
Mines is sad to announce the passing of Admiral Richard Truly, former NASA Administrator, Astronaut, NREL Director and Mines supporter. Truly passed away Feb. 27 at his home in Genesee, Colorado, at the age of 86.
Truly served on the Colorado School of Mines Board of Trustees from 2010 through 2014, including as Vice Chairman of the Board. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of engineering from Mines in 2002.
