HASS 418! GO TO ISTANBUL IN SUMMER ONE: PHOTOGRAPHY + FILM
Department / Organization: HASS
INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM, LITERATURE? THE MEDITERREANEAN, MIDDLE EAST, TRANS-CAUSASUS? ENROLL IN HASS 418 TODAY!
"Narrating the Nation" (HASS 418) promises to be a stimulating, pleasurable, straightforward way for students to fulfill their 400-level HASS requirement. All students are warmly invited. The course will meet just nine times, Monday and Wednesday evenings, beginning May 15 and ending June 17. Most classes will conclude by 8pm. Thus the course will impinge very lightly on students' work, recreation, and traveling!
The regional focus of "Narrating the Nation" will be Turkey (Istanbul and Eastern Anatolia) as will as Greece, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Georgia. Photography and film will feature centrally in the course alongside literature, history, architecture and art history.
Just two writing assignments: a 3-page "midterm" essay (double-spaced) and a 5-page final essay (double-spaced).
