HASS 418 (SUMMER ONE): PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM, AND A NOVEL
Department / Organization: HASS
INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM, ARCHITECTURE AND LITERATURE? ENROLL IN HASS 418 NOW TO COMPLETE YOUR 400-LEVEL REQUIREMENT
HASS 418, "Narrating the Nation," will be a compelling, pleasurable, straightforward way for you to complete your HASS 400-level requirement. All students are welcome! In this course we will "travel"--through photography, film, architecture, art history and literature--across Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Transcaucasian regions, encompassing the heritages of The Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, Georgia, and neighboring regions of the ex-Russian Empire/Soviet Union.
The course will meet just nine times on Monday and Wednesday evenings, beginning May 15, ending June 17. Most classes will end by 8pm. HASS 418 will thus impinge very lightly on your work, recreational and travel plans.
There are only two short writing assignments for the class: a 3-page (double-spaced) "midway" essay and a 5-page (double-spaced) final.
Don't hesitate to contact Jay Straker with any questions.
