Intro to Discipline Based Education Research F24 Workshops
Department / Organization: CBE
Are you interested in scientifically assessing your courses and teaching? If so, sign up for the following workshop series!
If you are interested in learning how to scientifically assess your courses and teaching to improve student outcomes, consider taking part in the following three-part workshop series!
The workshop series will be held in Fall 2024 on Mondays Sept 16, Oct 21, and Nov 18 from 12 to 1pm each day in GC 200F. Workshops will cover all aspects of getting started with DBER, including writing a research question and hypothesis, study design, IRB/HSR approvals, quantitative vs qualitative data collection and analysis, and publishing your DBER results. The workshop series is facilitated by Justin Shaffer with funding provided by the Fryrear Chair for Innovation and Excellence.
Anyone who attends all three sessions will have one year of membership to a professional DBER organization (e.g. ASEE) paid for! If you cannot attend all three workshops this fall they will be offered again in Spring 2025 and beyond.

The first cohort of ~15 faculty complete the three part workshop series in this spring 2024 and gave extremely positive feedback. Let Justin know if you have any questions or comments! Good luck with the end of the semester and see you in the fall ready to DBER!
