Mid Level HASS Music Courses - Summer 2024
If you’re in need of a mid level HASS course, the Music and Performing Arts Program is offering two courses over the summer session.
In Summer 1 Prof. Cullison is offering HASS 316 History of Jazz and American Popular Music, Tuesday/Thursday 12-3pm. This course covers the factors and influences involved in the evolution of what we consider to be pop music, how jazz has developed and evolved, what makes pop songs work, and why many sound the same, and many other topics. In Summer 2 Prof. Zrinsky is offering Music Theory, Monday/Wednesday 2-5pm. Learn the basics of music notation all the way to composing counterpoint! Start discovering how music “works” in this interactive class. Contact her at bzrinsky@mines.edu
