TIAA & Medicare will be deducted from paycheck if NOT Registered for Summer Courses - Notify MAPS by June 1, 2024
Student employees will see TIAA and Medicare deductions on their June 14, 2024 paycheck if they are not registered for enough credit hours to qualify for the half-time student status exception for future-retirement withholding mandated by the Federal government. If you are a student employee taking more than 3 credit hours (undergrads) or 1.5 credit hours (grads) for Summer please let us know no later than June 1, 2024 so that we can verify your enrollment and stop the TIAA and Medicare deductions. Please note, these two additional deductions will take place through the end of your summer employment contract or your August 30, 2024 paycheck whichever comes first. If we are not notified of your summer enrollment by June 1st, your TIAA and Medicare deductions will be taken and we are unable to process any refunds for these deductions.
