IEEE Presents - Dr. Wakin lecture on Compressive Sensing and Graduate School
Department / Organization: IEEE
Come out for another lunch and learn provided by IEEE. Dr. Wakin, an EE Professor here at Mines will discuss compressive censing, and will say a few words about Graduate School
The era of "Big Data" imposes a tremendous burden on sensing systems that must collect, analyze, and store information about the physical world. To reduce this burden, this talk will describe the idea of Compressive Sensing, where high-resolution signals and large data sets can be captured directly in compressed form, often through the use of creative randomized sampling techniques. Dr. Wakin is one of the Information and Systems Sciences (ISS) faculty in EE, and he will briefly discuss Mines' graduate degree offerings in the ISS track, including how EE students can earn a combined BS/MS degree in five years.
