VIPER teams consist of undergraduate students from various years, disciplines, and backgrounds, working closely with faculty in their areas of scholarship and exploration.

How does VIPER work? • Apply: Students apply to join a VIPER team after finding a team that aligns with your interest and submitting the application form on corresponding team page here: https://www.mines.edu/undergraduate-research/viper-all-teams-page/. • Response from VIPER Team Advisor: Students will receive either receive an acceptance email or a response that the team is full for the next semester. Students can apply to another team or reapply to the same team in the next semester. Accepted students should promptly respond to VIPER advisors and may request a meeting or tour of the faculty member's lab. • Earn Credits: If chosen to be on the VIPER, students will earn 1 academic credit each semester for their participation. Students are expected to be on a VIPER team for a minimum of three semesters. • Mentorship: After two semesters on a VIPER team, students could become near-peer mentors within the team.
