Graduate research is a central element to graduate life at Mines. Each year, the GSG holds a exhibition, where graduate (and undergraduate) students from Mines, as well as other institutions, come together to showcase their work. Students are adjudicated on the quality of their presentations, and prizes are given to the top presenters. In recent years, the research exhibition has grown in the number and diversity of sessions. Based on this phenomenal success, an innovative conference experience was designed for graduate students in Spring 2012 called the Conference on Earth and Energy Research (CEER), and had over 170 graduate student presenters in attendance. Further growth in numbers and in research diversity necessitated the re-branding effort, culminating in GRADS. GRADS is an event designed by graduate students for graduate and undergraduate students doing cutting-edge research. Participants are able to practice their presentation skills in a comfortable and professional environment. Featuring real-time feedback from Mines Faculty, Mines alums, and professionals acting as judges, presenters are provided valuable insight into their presentation style and skills.
