SURF and MURF Faculty Project Proposals now OPEN

Interested in bringing on an undergraduate researcher in your lab? Submit project proposals by 2/28 (SURF) and 4/11 (MURF)

SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (SURF) 2025
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program at the Mines seeks to provide funding for current undergraduate students to participate in concentrated, full-time research under the mentorship of the Mines faculty. SURF scholars receive a stipend of $4000 (partially funded by a required faculty contribution of $1,000) and are required to conduct 300 hours of research over the summer.
Faculty project submissions are open now - February 28th.
Student applications are open March 5th through March 28th. Results will be announced the second week of April.

MINES UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (MURF) 2025-2026
MURF provides funding for students during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) to conduct research with a Mines faculty mentor. Students receive a total stipend of $1,500 for both Fall and Spring semesters, disbursed biweekly.
Faculty project submissions are open now through April 11th.
Student applications are open from April 14th through May 23rd.
