With over 100 screenings at institutions and film festivals across the U.S. in the last year, and over 100 scheduled in the next few weeks, Counted Out is a novel documentary about the transformation of mathematics (and statistics) in tandem with our rapidly developing humanity that is rapidly gaining notoriety. Counted Out tackles how mathematics manifests amid current global issues and the pursuance of evolving mathematics education to meet the needs of students, and society at large, in the 21st century. This film broadly highlights mathematics as the foundation for democracy and economic opportunity. Join the AMS department for a film screening on March 11th at 5PM in Friedhoff Hall (in the Green Center), followed by an optional discussion about the film (with refreshments!).
