Summer I Upper Division Elective Courses Available with Dr. Derrick Hudson

IPE Africa (LAIS 341) and Religion and Security (LAIS 431) taught by Dr. Derrick Hudson
Students: Need/want to take advantage of taking some of your required upper-division electives in LAIS during Summer I? Then consider taking either International Political Economy (IPE) of Africa (LAIS 341), 11-1230pm, M/T/W/Th or Religion and Security (LAIS 431), 530-7pm, M/T/W/Th with Dr. Derrick Hudson. IPE Africa will cover a brief overview of African history, with an emphasis on the development and political debates/approaches that have been attempted since the independence era in Africa beginning in the 1950s. Religion and Security addresses the interesting relationships among moral psychology, religion and US foreign policy as well as the legacy of churches in the Civil Rights movement in the United States and the apartheid regime in South Africa. Finally, the course explores the relationship between religion and terrorism utilizing a psychological approach to the subject. Both classes are 3 credit hours.
