Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month: Reporting
Department / Organization: Title IX
You may be asking, “What happens after a report is received by the Title IX Office?”
There is a general flow of steps we follow. The first step is ensuring the immediate safety of the survivor. The second is offering to talk with the survivor. We recognize that each situation is unique. Every survivor wants something different to feel safe and to ensure they can continue to be successful at Mines. How the survivor wants to proceed will impact how we move forward.
If the survivor wants to file a formal complaint, an investigation will be launched. The survivor can choose to participate in the investigation or not. The investigators will provide findings to the Dean of Students. The Dean of Students issues the final written decision.
Please note: If not exploring the concern further is determined to be risk to the campus community, it is possible that an investigation will be launched.
