Goldwater Scholarship Info Session & Scholar Panel
Department / Organization: University Honors & Scholars
Sophomores and juniors (as of fall 2025) who intend to pursue a PhD and research career are eligible for this $7,500 award.
The Goldwater Scholarship is awarded to outstanding sophomores or juniors who are studying mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering, who intend to pursue a research career, and who already have significant research experience. The award provides up to $7,500 per year for a maximum of two years for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and housing expenses.
If you are an undergraduate student who plans to pursue a PhD, and especially if you are considering a research career in academia or at a national lab, you are strongly encouraged to consider applying to the Goldwater Scholarship this coming fall. The online application will open the first Tuesday in September, and students will need to indicate their interest in applying by late September. Reach out to ashley.weibel@mines.edu in the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships with your interest.
This Goldwater Scholarship Information Session & Scholar Spotlight on Wednesday, April 23rd, 12-1pm, McNeil 215 will include an overview of the scholarship, tips on crafting a compelling application, and the tips and perspective of Mines Goldwater recipients Caitlyn Castellion and Isaac Pope.
