Updates to the Dependent Tuition Reduction Benefit Process
Department / Organization: Human Resources
The application for the Dependent Tuition Reduction benefit will now be submitted electronically through OnBase.
What is it? The Dependent Tuition Reduction Benefit allows eligible dependents of Colorado School of Mines employees to attend the university at a reduced tuition rate. This benefit provides up to a 50% reduction in in-state undergraduate tuition, in accordance with IRS guidelines. Please note that this benefit applies to undergraduate students only. Who can use it? This benefit is available to eligible Mines faculty and staff. For full details on eligibility criteria, please refer to the Dependent Tuition Benefit Policy in the Mines Policy Library. How to use it? In the MAPS service catalog, under Payroll and Employment, visit the Dependent Tuition Reduction page. The page will link directly to the online form in OnBase. The employee is responsible for initiating the form, which will then be automatically routed (via email) to the dependent for completion. Once the form has been processed by all relevant parties, the employee will receive an email notification. *Please be aware that you will need to be connected via VPN to access OnBase. Is there a deadline? Yes, the application form must be completed and submitted by both the employee and the dependent no later than the drop/add deadline for the applicable semester. A new submission is required for each semester and must be submitted accordingly.
