Get the Most Out of Your Student Hiring – Use Work Study!

Supervisors: Use Work Study to fund student workers and reduce the strain on your department’s budget.
As you begin planning your student staffing for the upcoming academic year, please remember to utilize Work Study whenever possible. Work Study funding covers a significant portion of student wages, helping ease the strain on your department’s budget.
Quick Check – Is Your Student Work Study Eligible? Hop into Tableau: Explore > Financial Aid > Financial Aid Production > Work Study Open the “Work Study Award and Paid Amounts” insight If they’re not awarded, have them email the Financial Aid Office to see if they qualify!
Important Work Study Reminders • Start Date: Work Study funding begins August 25 (first day of fall semester). • Fall-only contracts end December 19(last day of fall semester) • Fall/Spring contracts run August 25 – May 15. • Work Study does not cover: sick time, late time sheets, or overtime. • Students can work no more than 20 hours per week. • Ensure all MAPS hiring paperwork is complete before students begin working.
