Three Teach@Mines courses qualify as CAS 400-level electives:
SCED415/515: Scientific Practices & Engineering Design & the Nature of Science Mondays, 5:30-8p This course prepares students to integrate knowledge of scientific and engineering practices into their teaching. Practices include developing and using models, planning and carrying out investigations, and engaging in argument from evidence.
CSED430/530: Computer Science Practices & Technological Impacts on Society Wednesdays, 5:30-8p This class allows students to explore current industry computer science practices and the technological impacts on society (e.g., how big tech’s obsession with optimization and efficiency has sacrificed fundamental human values).
MAED405/505: Mathematical Practices & the Social Context of Math Thursdays, 5:30-8p Taught by Dr. Deb Carney, this course provides students an opportunity to develop the skills to promote mathematical identity and their understanding of mathematical practices and processes.
