Applying for SURF to Conduct Summer Research at NIST Seminar

The Emerging Scholars Seminar Series offers seminars on topics of interest to undergraduate student researchers at Mines.
Cara O’Malley, Academic Program Manager at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will discuss the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program at NIST, giving an overview of the program and discussing tips and guidelines for applying. SURF students gain valuable hands-on experience by working one-on-one with an engineer or scientist for 11 weeks. They receive a $5500 stipend, in addition to travel and housing allowances for those who live outside of the NIST immediate area.
