Department / Organization: Economics & Business
Apply your engineering and business skills to solve real-world problems and win some money!
Are you interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment to solve real-world problems? Are you interested in bridging engineering and business? Do you have an interest in the energy sector? Would you like to win some money? If you answered yes to these questions, consider applying to be a part of the Tenaska Business Challenge. Undergraduate students from any major are encouraged to apply.
The Tenaska Business Challenge is a case competition hosted by the University of Nebraska College of Business. This multi-university competition will challenge students to solve real problems through interdisciplinary solutions. The case will be provided by Tenaska, one of the largest privately-held companies in the United States and a leader in the energy industry. The case will require teams to take a comprehensive business approach to provide a solution to a challenge faced by their business. The multidisciplinary case will feature a topic and deliverables that can be successfully completed using general critical thinking, investigative, and business skills. No prior knowledge within a certain discipline is required to complete the case requirements.
The case competition runs from February 25-27, 2026. The top 3 teams will receive cash prizes of $1,000, $750, or $500, respectively. Case participants will be mentored and judged by professionals from Tenaska, Kiewit, and local businesses in the Lincoln area.
