Imaging Cells and Tissues with Super-Resolution Microscopy
Several methods are now available which are able to extend the resolution of optical microscopes beyond the classical limit imposed by di9raction. These methods include single molecule techniques such as PALM or STORM, which reach a resolution of about 20 nm. Other methods include structured illumination microscopy, which doubles the resolution of a conventional optical microscope. In this talk, I will discuss my group’s research in these two areas and how we have made advancements in image acquisition, image analysis, and in imaging of biological samples.
Dr. Guy Hagen received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Colorado College in 1998, and his PhD in analytical chemistry from Colorado State University in 2005. He was then a postdoctoral scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Gottingen, Germany, and an assistant professor at Charles University in Prague. In 2015, Guy returned to Colorado and is currently a research associate professor at the BioFrontiers center at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
