Join us as for a talk from Hugh Miller of Mines Mining Engineering Department
Hugh Miller is an Associate Professor in the Mining Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines), where he teaches courses and conducts research in a variety of specialized areas including mine design, economic evaluation, hydroexcavation, and occupational safety. At Mines, Hugh also serves as the Research Director for the Energy, Mining & Construction Safety Center. Prior to entering academia, Hugh worked more than 13 years in industry, including five years as Director of Operations for International Engineering Technology, Inc. and its subsidiaries, IET Jet Technology Inc., RAMAX LLC, and Hydroblaster Pumps Inc. With more than 38 years of industry experience, he has served on the Boards of numerous companies and professional organizations and regularly consults in the integration of new technologies and systems in a variety of mining applications, project feasibility and development, and research related to waterjet excavation and drilling.
In terms of industry outreach, he currently services as the Board Chairman of the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum, on the Board of the American Exploration and Mining Association, the Co-Chair of the AEMA Workforce Committee, and as the Short Course Coordinator of the Waterjet Technology Association (WJTA). Hugh also served as the 2019 President of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME).
