Mine's First Ever Wall of Oppression Program Ceremony, TODAY!!!
Department / Organization: Res Life
The Wall of Oppression Program's Closing Ceremony is today at 12:30 pm in front of the wall (between Brown/RecCenter). Come help up tear down the wall!
The Department of Residence Life would like to you to participate in the Wall of Oppression Program. We as the Department of Res Life have constructed a cinderblock wall outside of Brown and the RecCenter on the West side of the walking plaza. The cinderblocks would then be painted by YOU, the students/staff, with the words or sayings which have hurt you the most in your lives. During the closing ceremony, students/staff are given the opportunity to come together and tear down this metaphorical wall in a very real fashion, symbolically removing barriers between us and barriers that have hindered many of us in unimaginable ways. The wall is currently constructed and will be up till the 17th to give you all the opportunity to write something and to let the words sink in and see the words that have been said to other Mines students/staff. The wall will have a table with paint and brushes in front of it between 11am to 6pm from today through Saturday, so please stop by and add to the wall. We will have a ceremony on April 17th at 12:30pm to break and tear down the wall. I have provided a link below to help visualize the project we are doing.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, please feel free to email myself or stop by the table in front of the wall.
THE CLOSING CEREMONY WILL BE HELD TODAY AT 12:30 pm DURING LUNCH IN FRONT OF THE WALL!!! PLEASE JOIN US!
