Call for MURF and SURF Faculty Project Proposals

Interested in bringing on an undergraduate researcher in your lab? Submit project proposals by 2/13 (SURF) and 4/10 (MURF)
Dear Faculty,
The Office of Undergraduate Research is pleased to announce that project proposals for both SURF 2026 and MURF 2026-2027 are now open. Please read on for details.
SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (SURF) 2026 SURF provides funding for current undergraduate students to participate in concentrated, full-time summer research with a Mines faculty mentor.
Faculty project submissions are open now – February 13th. Student applications will be open from February 16th through March 13th. Results will be announced by the end of March.
MINES UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (MURF) 2026-2027 MURF provides funding for current undergraduate students to participate in academic year research with a Mines faculty mentor. Students conduct research for 3-5 hours weekly over the course of the fall and spring semesters.
Faculty project submissions are open now through the priority deadline of April 10th. Student applications will be open from April 13th through May 22nd. Results will be announced in summer.
