The Green Team is refreshing the “Shut the Sash” sticker for laboratory fume hoods, and we want your design!

Did you know that fume hoods are among the most energy-intensive pieces of equipment in a laboratory? They often consume as much energy as an entire home’s energy use if left open unnecessarily. Reducing sash height when a hood is idle improves safety and significantly cuts building energy use.

Sticker Requirements
Your design (max 8" x 4") must include:
The phase “Shut the Sash”
“An open fume hood wastes $1,100 in energy per year—approximately the same amount needed to power an entire home.”
“Reduce energy use and shut the sash when not in use.”
Feel free to add additional text, graphics, or creative elements.
