ARMA Student Chapter - UCA Lunch & Learn

Department / Organization: Underground Construction Association

Learn how engineers turn geological data into subsurface insights. Lunch provided.

Come learn from industry professional Aidan Taylor from WSP on Monday, 4/06 from 12-1 pm in Coolbaugh 210. As a Senior Geological Engineer, he is able to give insights on understanding underground construction via geological considerations. His presentation, "Reading Rocks: Turning Geological Data into Underground Engineering Insights", will be about the following:

Engineering the subsurface often requires working with large or limited datasets and interpreting them for contract documents, baselines, and design decisions. Depending on the scope of a project or the level of detail in the exploration program, understanding the geology or bridging the gaps between borings can be challenging for any engineer. This session will introduce workflows, tools, and data-reduction techniques the presenter has applied throughout their career to better analyze and interpret subsurface conditions. The goal is to help practitioners reduce risk, improve characterization of ground conditions, and more confidently predict what lies beneath our feet.
