Interested in the new B.S. in Quantum Systems Engineering?
Department / Organization: CASA Mines has approved the B.S. in Quantum Systems Engineering (QSE) for the 2026-27 catalog! Click to learn more.
Important-New program-specific coursework will not begin to be offered until 2027-28, so graduating earlier than May 2029 with the B.S. in QSE will not be possible, even for students ahead on credit. Excited about the new major/curious about next steps? 1) Please join the interest list at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/FJgHt6NNra We will notify you of advising opportunities and when you can officially change your major (after the new catalog is released) if you decide to make a switch. 2) Check out the info slides (https://tinyurl.com/3d6456rv) to learn more about the field of quantum, skills, potential jobs, anticipated curriculum, and more. The final curriculum will be published in the 2026-27 catalog (available in late April or May). If you intend to change your major to QSE, use the curriculum information in the slides to make a tentative plan for fall. A webinar held on 4/28 @ noon will discuss the curriculum in more detail and adjustments can be made at that time. Details will be sent to students on the interest list! 3) You can check out how your earned/in-progress credits apply to the curriculum by running a "What-If" analysis in Degree Works. In your dashboard (Trailhead), click the “What-If” tab above your “Degree Progress” summary. Set the “Catalog Year” to 2026-27 and “Major” to Quantum Systems Engineering and click “Process.” 4) CASA advisors can start meeting 1-1 with students as needed after the webinar and 2026-27 catalog release.
