Earth Day Month Sustainability Tip - Recycle your batteries

Department / Organization: Sustainability

Help the environment by learning more about battery recycling

Batteries contain metals that can be recovered and used again, reducing the need for mining raw materials and supports sustainable manufacturing.

Recycle batteries for cell phones, power tools, lawn mowers, and chain saws at Home Depot and Lowes in Golden.

Recycle E-BIKE batteries at Peak Cycles and Yeti Cycles in Golden.

For single-use batteries found in keyboards, remotes, toys, etc., many municipalities, including Golden, recommend putting them in the trash since many Colorado recyclers won't take them due to minimal amount of recoverable materials. Rooney Road Recycling Center in Golden will take a bag of single-use batteries (up to 75 pounds) for a fee.

For more information about types of batteries and battery recycling, and to find drop off locations outside Golden, visit the Battery Network (formerly Call2Recycle)
