Mines Graduate Students: Energy Summer School in the Alps!

Scholarships available for Mines graduate students (MS, PhD) for Energy Summer School in Austria June 1-7 2026

Mines Graduate students (MS, PhD) are invited to apply for the 13th International School on Materials for Energy and Sustainability (ISMES XIII), which will be held in Hirschegg Austria June 1-7th, 2026. Scholarships are available for Mines students accepted to the school which will cover the cost of the attending the school (including lodging, meals, social events and excursions). Students are expected to cover the cost of their travel to/from the school. The closest international airport is Munich, Germany.

Mines has been an active participant in the school since its inception, as it was launched by our former VP of Research, Dr. John Poate, along with Dr. Dave Ginley at NLR (formerly NREL) and European colleagues. The school has twice been hosted at Mines; this is the first time it will be held in the Alps-- in Austria!

The school includes lecturers from Mines and NLR, joined by well-known scientific leaders from the US, Europe and Asia. Students come from all over Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia.
