In UNDERTOW, a community's fears are stoked into paranoia by a mysterious force.

This past semester, you've probably heard about *Robot Riot* and *Black Mirror / Red Carpet* — collaborations between Mines professor Tom Williams's robotics lab and robot ethics class with Denver-based improvisers.

Next week, the theater company behind those collaborations, Dramatheurgy, is producing an improvised play for the Denver Fringe Festival: UNDERTOW.

UNDERTOW will play Thursday June 4th and Saturday June 6th at the People's Building in Arvada.

A community's fears are stoked into paranoia by a mysterious force, who uses the town to summon itself into their reality. But is it the residents of the fictional seaside town — or the audience — who is doing the summoning?

Undertow is an improvised theater production, featuring original music by Jared Allen Lacy, that uses thematic elements of the Weird and the Eerie (Lynch, Vandermeer, Eggers, Danielewski, etc.) to explore the psychodynamics of the residents of a small coastal town living under an authoritarian regime, and the mutual reinforcement between community atomization and oppression.
