Faculty & Staff Bladesmithing Workshop–Limited Openings

Department / Organization: Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Have you ever wanted to make your own knife? See below for details!

This summer, the George S. Ansell Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is offering a special hands-on bladesmithing workshop for Mines faculty and staff. Participants will work one-on-one with experienced teaching assistants from MTGN333: Introduction to Bladesmithing to design, shape, grind, heat treat, and finish their own custom knife while learning the materials science and engineering principles behind blade performance. The first cohort begins Monday, June 15, and currently has four openings remaining. A second cohort will be offered later in July, with dates and times to be announced. No prior experience is required. If you are interested in learning more about one of Mines' most popular elective courses while creating a unique keepsake of your own, contact Gerald Bourne at bourne@mines.edu for additional information and registration details.
