NASA-linked PBR showcases how in-house machining expertise helps launch science to the stratosphere.

The POEMMA Balloon with Radio (PBR) project is being assembled right now from components machined entirely in-house. PBR is a NASA-affiliated stratospheric balloon mission, a precursor to the proposed POEMMA satellite mission, and a major undertaking for the 200+ person international team supporting it.

This project would not have been possible without the ingenuity of the machinists who turned complex designs into flight-ready hardware, and the cost and time savings of having a fully capable machine shop on campus rather than outsourcing fabrication. It's a clear example of what this kind of in-house capability makes possible.
