An Excused Absence is required for missing class/exams/etc.
Department / Organization: Student Life Students are expected to meet attendance requirements; however, for certain circumstances, an Excused Absence may be issued.
Class attendance - including all scheduled meetings, exams, labs, etc. - is required of all students unless the student has an Excused Absence granted by the school or the student’s professor. It is the student’s responsibility to request an Excused Absence with their professor or through the established protocol. Excused Absences may be issued for unforeseen illness or authorized medical or personal matters including religious observance, bereavement, and other qualifying reasons with documentation. Opportunistic or habitual abuse of the excused absence policy violates the Mines Code of Conduct. To review the Excused Absence Policy and/or to request an excused absence, please visit https://www.mines.edu/student-life/student-absences/. Requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance whenever possible; late requests may not be approved. Students are expected to consult their course syllabus for class-specific details.
