Nuclear Science and Engineering Program - Distinguished Energy Seminar Fueling Deployment: Oklo’s Integrated Approach to Advanced Nuclear Energy Dr. Christina Leggett, Director of Fuel Cycle Technology, Oklo 4:00 pm, Wednesday 9 September 2026 Hill Hall 202 Abstract: Oklo is pursuing a fundamentally integrated approach to advanced nuclear deployment, developing not only its Aurora powerhouses but also the fuel infrastructure needed to support their deployment at scale. Central to this strategy is the ability to recover valuable energy resources from used nuclear fuel and convert them into fuel for advanced fast reactors. Dr. Christina Leggett will discuss how Oklo is connecting reactor deployment, fuel supply, and fuel recycling as part of a broader commercial strategy for advanced nuclear energy. The discussion will explore how recycling can expand domestic fuel resources, reduce dependence on constrained supply chains, and take advantage of the unique capabilities of fast reactor technologies. Dr. Leggett will also highlight Oklo’s plans for its advanced fuel center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and how the company is approaching fuel availability as a core component of reactor commercialization. Together, these efforts illustrate how integrating the front and back ends of the nuclear fuel cycle can help enable the deployment and long-term scalability of advanced nuclear power.
