Mandatory Cyber Awareness Training
Department / Organization: IT All faculty, staff, and students must complete a 25-minute cyber awareness training by Jan 3, 2025.
Cybersecurity awareness is a critical component of keeping Colorado School of Mines safe from cyber threats. To reduce our risk at Mines, we are launching a mandatory cyber awareness training through KnowBe4. The training will help you recognize and report phishing attempts, building a stronger “human firewall” to protect our community from cyber threats. Cyber Awareness Training Details: --When: Emails with access to the 25-minute training will be sent starting Nov. 18 from KnowBe4 (do-not-reply@training.knowbe4.com). --Deadline: Complete training by Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. The reason we’re launching this training is that recent data shows we have room for improvement in identifying and reporting cyber threats. A recent, simulated phishing test revealed that: --14% of users clicked a phishing link, meaning 1 in 7 people at Mines may fall for a basic attack. --Of those who recognized the email as suspicious, only 20% of suspicious emails were reported to IT. Thank you for playing your part in keeping our community secure from cyber threats. For more information, send email to: security@mines.edu Published in Digest Date: Monday, November 18, 2024 |
