Tips on how to go paperless during April

Despite advances in digital communication, printing paper on campus is increasing significantly and is expected to double in 2025. The environmental impact of producing printer paper includes deforestation, water and energy consumption, and the use of chemicals as well as waste to landfill. Sustainable practices like recycling paper and reducing the amount of paper printed can help reduce the environmental impact of printer paper.

Print less paper during April by promoting digital alternatives, optimizing printer settings, and encouraging sustainable printing habits.

Promoting digital alternatives
a. Digital signatures for documents
b. Digital posters and fliers for event promotion
c. Digital reports, receipts, and invoices

Optimize printer settings
a. Set printers to double-sided printing (default)
b. Print multiple pages per sheet
c. Reduce font size to reduce paper needed

Encouraging sustainable printing habits
a. Purchase recycled paper
b. Think before you print – can it be saved digitally?
