About the PEER Institute: The Professional development for Emerging Education Researchers (PEER) Institute supports scholars as they become education researchers and expand their research expertise. PEER focuses on Discipline-based Education Research, advancing both scholarship and teaching goals that are valued at all types of academic institutions. Learn more here. About the workshop: PEER enhances the professional growth of participants and changes career trajectories. In this half-day interactive workshop, we’ll introduce you to fundamental skills in discipline-based education research (DBER) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). You’ll practice these skills with each other to develop your research ideas and conceptualize a research project. Topics include generative writing, research design, matching your research questions to accessible data, and finding collaborators and participants. A hallmark of PEERworkshops is our responsiveness to participant interests, and activities center around advancing each participant's specific research project.
