Sigma Xi: Behind-the-scenes tour Red Rocks Community College

Department / Organization: Mines Chapter of Sigma Xi

“Behind-the-scenes” tour Red Rocks Community College, organized by Mines Chapter of Sigma Xi, 4/27 (10-12:30)

Dear Members of Mines' Chapter of Sigma Xi and friends:

This is a gently reminder that our Spring semester "behind-the-scenes" tour will take place at Red Rocks Community College from 10:00am to 12:30pm on Monday, April 27, 2026 with optional lunch in the cafeteria afterwards. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Mines' largest source of transfer students. Participants will be surprised to learn about the depth and breadth of research projects being carried out at our neighboring institution. Our stops will include the following possibilities:

Spark chamber and muon detector demo
High-altitude balloon launch
Robotics for Mars-like conditions
Lunar agriculture
Crispr experiments
Wood shop and luthier program
RRCC planetarium
IDEA laboratory/Theater collaboration

Members of the Mines community are invited to attend as well as their guests. The tour should be especially interesting to Mines folks from the various honors programs and anyone involved with transfer students. Participation will be limited to about 20 people on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Please contact jtrefny@mines.edu by April 20 if you plan to attend.
