Skip the Lecture. Dig for Gems Instead.

Department / Organization: Museum

Pan for gems and try hands-on challenges at the Mines Museum today! Free Earth Day fun in the Discovery Lab.

Celebrate Earth Day the fun way—no lectures required.

Head to the Discovery Lab (GRL 201) for a hands-on lineup of activities where you can dig for minerals and take on quick science challenges. It’s fast, interactive, and designed for all ages (yes, even adults who just want to play with rocks).
Complete a few activities and earn your Earth Day Discovery Passport stamp—collect enough and you might even walk away with a prize!

Whether you stay for five minutes or an hour, you’ll leave knowing a little more about our planet (and probably with a favorite mineral).

Bring a friend. Get your hands dirty. Celebrate the planet.
